How they’re made

01

Tonewoods

Choosing tonewoods is where high-level physics meets master craftsmanship. We treat every soundboard as an individual engine, hand-selecting and “tap-tuning” every premium piece for its unique stiffness, weight, and acoustic velocity.

02

Structure

Meticulously hand-tuned bracing, voiced, and shaped to balance structural strength against maximum acoustic freedom.

03

Details

Beyond the wood, our attention to detail shines through in every hand-fitted inlay and flawlessly scraped binding. We use only premium materials like genuine mother-of-pearl, abalone, and exotic hardwoods to elevate each instrument into a visual masterpiece.

About the builder

Polaris Guitars is the workshop of Aaron Perillat in Ashland, Oregon.

Aaron was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and has lived in Ashland since he was two. He followed in his father’s footsteps into a life of making things by hand — a path that led to the workbench, and to building guitars.

Every Polaris is built one at a time, from the bracing to the final inlay.
